Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: February 3, 2026

Our Commitment

WorkInMN is dedicated to ensuring that Minnesota's public service opportunities are accessible to everyone, regardless of technology or ability. We believe that finding a career in state government should be a fast, barrier-free experience.

We are actively working to align our platform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.

Accessibility Features

To provide a superior experience compared to legacy job portals, we have implemented the following accessibility features:

Keyboard Navigation

Our site is fully navigable via keyboard, featuring clear "Skip to Content" links for power users and those using assistive technology.

Screen Reader Optimization

We use semantic HTML5 and ARIA labels to ensure job titles, agencies, and application links are clearly identified by screen readers.

High Contrast & Readability

Our "Northern Palette" is designed with high-contrast ratios (meeting WCAG AA) and fluid typography to remain legible on all screen sizes.

Reduced Motion

We respect the "prefers-reduced-motion" setting and avoid unnecessary animations that can cause confusion or distress.

Technical Standards

  • Focus Indicators: All interactive elements have visible focus states with a 3px amber outline.
  • Color Contrast: Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Touch Targets: Buttons and links have minimum 44x44px touch targets on mobile devices.
  • Form Labels: All form inputs have associated labels for screen reader users.
  • Live Regions: Search results and filter changes are announced to screen readers using ARIA live regions.
  • Semantic Structure: Proper heading hierarchy (h1-h4) and landmark regions for easy navigation.

Third-Party Content

Important: As an independent aggregator, we focus on the accessibility of our search and discovery tools. The official state application portals we link to are managed by the State of Minnesota and may have different accessibility profiles. We encourage users to contact the State directly with accessibility concerns about the application process.

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly audit our site using:

  • Automated testing tools (axe, Lighthouse)
  • Manual keyboard and screen reader testing
  • User feedback from the disability community

We are committed to continuous improvement and welcome feedback on how we can make WorkInMN more accessible.
